The Prompt

Create a complete, self-contained index.html called Still House: A Room for Reading. Return only HTML, with CSS and JavaScript inline. Opening it directly in a browser must work without external assets, dependencies, a server, API keys or a build step. Design a quiet illustrated story about transforming an empty corner into a reading room. Use paper #f5efe2, charcoal #302e2b, sage #839784 and amber #d3a052. Set headings in a system serif and body text in a readable system sans-serif. On desktop, pair a sticky inline SVG room illustration with four tall narrative chapters. Draw the room yourself using SVG shapes: a window, floor, rug, chair, bookshelf, side table, book and lamp. Do not embed stock images. The chapters are “01 — Make space”, “02 — Find the light”, “03 — Bring the books” and “04 — Stay awhile”. Write 60–90 words for each, offering concrete interior-design observations rather than generic filler. The first introduces an empty corner; the second positions a chair and rug by daylight; the third adds a bookshelf, table and open book; the fourth shifts the window toward dusk and warms the lamp. Derive a normalized progress value from the actual story section position and interpolate scene states continuously with requestAnimationFrame. The chair and rug enter during chapter two, the shelves and book during chapter three, and the sky and lamp change during chapter four. Reverse scrolling must reverse the exact same progression. Do not intercept wheel or touch scrolling. Include a compact chapter navigation with working anchor links, a visual progress indicator and a clearly labeled lamp switch that lets the visitor toggle the illustrated lamp independently of scrolling. Keep the switch state reflected with aria-pressed. Provide a “Begin again” anchor at the end. At narrow widths, keep the illustration compact enough that narrative text remains visible and usable; avoid oversized sticky content covering chapters. With prefers-reduced-motion, show a fully furnished static room and all chapters in normal document flow, retaining the lamp switch and navigation. Ensure visible focus, readable contrast, semantic headings and no horizontal overflow. Give the SVG an accessible title and description.
