ChatGPT Handoff Prompt For New Chat

Read the conversation so far and write a self-contained handoff brief that I can paste into a fresh chat to continue the same work. Identify the latest active objective and incorporate later corrections to earlier instructions. Preserve the concrete details needed to continue accurately, including relevant names, dates, file paths, commands, links, numbers and exact wording where it matters. Separate confirmed facts from assumptions and unresolved questions. Include the desired outcome and completion criteria; the current state of the work; settled decisions and their reasons; user preferences and constraints; completed actions and their observed results; failed approaches worth avoiding; outstanding blockers; and the next three concrete actions in priority order. Include relevant artifacts or concise excerpts when the next assistant would otherwise lack necessary context. Never invent tool results, claim unfinished work is complete or assume that attachments and local files will transfer to the new chat. Explicitly identify any essential material that must be attached or supplied again. Exclude passwords, access tokens and unrelated personal details. If the conversation contains several projects, focus on the active one and briefly mention other work only when it affects that project. Aim for 700 words or fewer, using short headings and bullets, but preserve critical technical detail even if that requires a little more space. End the brief with a direct instruction telling the next assistant which action to take first. Output only the handoff brief.
